Bloody Disgustingさんによれば、ケイリーが撮影しているのは、it's not old footage.（古い場面ではない）ということなので、ゴードンせんせはお元気だということっす。
せんせは"a group of Jigsaw survivors"に含まれるのかもしれん。
Shock Yaさんにはこう書いてあります。
"a group of Jigsaw survivors"が集まるところにおられるであろう、7作目の新登場人物ボビーさんが持っている暗いヒミツというのは、whose dark secrets might be the start of something even worse than Jigsaw.（"ジグソウ"のゲームよりもっと恐ろしい何かのはじまり）だというんすよね。
もう少し具体的には、Saw VII sees a group of Jigsaw survivors seek the support of a self-help guru (and handily also a Jigsaw survivor), but surprise surprise the gore sets in when his own secrets become the cause of a new chapter of terror.
ボビーさんのヒミツこそが、新たな章の原因。ボビーさんのヒミツにより、次の章がはじまると。

ジョンについてはどうか。
He's in it, and his character is very important to the plot, where the plot begins and where the plot ends. Very important. Cause we know at the end of ['Saw 6'] there's problems lingering, because somebody didn't die who was supposed to die, and somebody's now likely being pursued by the person who's supposed to be dead. And they both trace back to John Kramer. So…his being is integral to the plot.
ジョンは変わらず最重要人物。ジョンではじまり、ジョンで終わる。
これはやっぱ鉄則のままです。ボビーさんに世代交代するからといって、脇役になってしまったわけではない。

前作で、死ぬはずだったある人物が死ななかった。ある人物が、死ぬはずだった人物に、追われている。死ぬはずだった人物も、その人物に追われている人物も、ジョンとつながっている。
